The Punisher

The Punisher (Frank Castle) is a fictional comic book character, an antihero in the most important parts of the Marvel Comics universe. Created by Gerry Conway and artists John Romita, Sr. and Ross Andru, first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man # 129 (February 1974).

The Punisher is a vigilante who considers murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence and torture acceptable crime-fighting tactics. Encouraged by the death of his family, who was murdered by the mob when they witnessed the execution of a gang in New York's Central Park, the Punisher wages of one-man war against the masses and all criminals in general by using kinds of weapons. Killer family were the first to be slain. A war veteran, Castle is a martial arts master, secret tactics, guerrilla and other weapons.

The Punisher's brutal nature and willingness to kill made him a new character in mainstream American comic books in 1974. In the late 1980s he was part of a wave of psychologically troubled anti-heroes and featured in several monthly publications, including The Punisher War Journal, The Punisher War Zone and The Punisher armory. While acts of violence and dark nature, The Punisher has enjoyed some mainstream success (though softening) on television making guest appearances in Spiderman: The Animated Series. Dolph Lundgren Punisher described in 1989, Thomas Jane in 2004 and Ray Stevenson in the year 2008.
